Mortgage Loan Originators in the Home Purchase Division are primarily responsible for originating new residential purchase mortgage loans. In doing so they need to be able to perform numerous tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to: responding to customers via phone or email; analyzing credit requirements of the borrower; working with realtors/home builders/referral partners; protecting the Banks future interest. In addition, an MLO will:

  • Consult with clients about current and future needs to help them achieve their financial/homeownership goals
  • Identify and construct lending solutions based on unique homeownership goals
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine preliminary home loan eligibility
  • Manage leads actively and meet minimum conversion (lead to fund) requirements
  • Educate clients on various types of loans and credit options
  • Complete loan applications, interest rate locks and move files into processing and underwriting
  • Provide exceptional service through the loan process from application to closing
  • Work with clients to keep loan processing moving forward while maintaining exceptional service levels through close
  • Establish trust and build rapport with clients
  • Stay informed of available loan types and other financial services and products in order to better meet customers' needs
  • Follow all Bank policies, procedures and guidelines

Desired Career Experience & Education Requirements

  • 1 year of retail lending experience or a finance related position
  • High School Graduate

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
