The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation and support of the local and wide area networks with responsibility for the following:

  • Evaluate new and emerging voice, data, video and mobile technologies; recommends solutions that address customer satisfaction and business unit objectives within the organization
  • Analysis, testing, documentation, implementation and support of global data technologies
  • Continuous testing of the existing network infrastructure to ensure proper performance and maximum uptime
  • Assist in the design and development of network implementations ensuring all IT equipment complies with industry and regulatory standards
  • Help in the global day-to-day troubleshooting and support of BofI local and wide area networks
  • Support new project Implementations within the project scope and schedule
  • Participate in office relocations, expansions and other infrastructure changes
  • Perform all required operational maintenance and troubleshooting of supported systems
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises and actual events working with the Security team to create and maintain a secure infrastructure
  • Evaluate and test software changes and updates supplied by vendors, prior to installation
  • Work with vendors, application developers, database administrators, corporate IT, and other technology groups to resolve any problems
  • Develop assessment reports and keep proper documentation for all hardware and software modifications 

Key Skill Sets or Knowledge Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of subnetting
  • Solid understanding of routing protocols BGP, OSPF, & EIGRP and layer 2 protocols RSTP and vPC
  • Experience with Cisco DMVPN, IPSEC,GRE
  • Network monitoring and troubleshooting - SolarWinds, PRTG, Cisco Prime, Wireshark
  • Deep knowledge in Cisco routers 3900/4000/ASR series routers; Cisco Catalyst switches – 3750,3850, 4500, 6500; Cisco Nexus switches - 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K; implementing and supporting DNS, SNMP, RADIUS, TACACS ,SYSLOG; access control list (ACLs), VRF, Port Security, Traffic Shaping, Priority Queuing, Class of Service (CoS), Quality of Service (QoS) and IP routing
  • Experience with design, provisioning and troubleshooting of WAN and LAN connectivity technologies; Load Balancer (LTM/GTM) technologies; WAN Acceleration technologies

Desired Career Experience & Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma 
  • 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and project management organizational skills in regards to project planning and documentation on time within budget
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and with written documentation
  • Willingness to help others, a pleasant personality, a courteous manner, and a professional demeanor with leadership qualities in cultivating technical staff
  • Ability to apply logical judgment, implements solutions, and resolve conflicts, all in a multi-tasked team environment
  • Will work after hours and on weekends and travel as needed
