    Job Responsibilities:

    • Manage the Independent Credit Review (ICR) team, drive continuous team process improvement, including the adoption of new quantitative review approaches, and contribute in setting the team's strategic direction
    • Hire and train new staff
    • Supervise and coach junior staff in a variety of credit review, regulatory relations or ERM roles
    • Integral team member of credit risk review team that independently tests lending department adherence to banking policies and industry-standard credit processes
    • Using a risk-based approach, perform reviews of the bank's assets, portfolios, and credit risk management processes in order to evaluate asset quality, as well as strengths and weaknesses inherent in lending policies, procedures, and practices
    • Evaluate and classify the Bank's assets on a regular basis in a manner consistent with the classification system utilized by the federal regulators
    • Knowledgeable and well-versed about most BOFI loan products
    • Work closely with Senior Management in the Credit Department and the lending and investment business units, fostering good relations and high internal customer satisfaction
    • Recommend well-supported changes to underwriting, monitoring and other credit risk management standards, as appropriate
    • Provides support and assistance on ERM processes, including reviewing Risk Assessments
    • Construct, maintain, and deliver various ad-hoc reports for Senior Management and the Board
    • Assist or lead with loan review and loan discussion aspects of regulatory examinations

    Key Skill Sets or Knowledge Requirements:

    • Strong analytical and logic skills, including the ability to differentiate risks, derive sound conclusions and formulate constructive arguments
    • Ability to manage multiple and/or shifting priorities, and produce professional and accurate work product, under time constraints
    • Creative problem-solving skills and intuitive risk-identifying abilities
    • Team Management experience
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong listening and debate skills
    • Strong computer skills including all MS Office systems

     

    Desired Career Experience & Education Requirements:

    • Minimum 10 years of experience in a credit risk review role or equivalent senior credit administrator role
    • Meaningful experience with complex commercial credit (structured finance, leveraged lending, asset-based lending, structured settlement discounting, factoring, etc.), retail credit, and all real estate loan products

    Preferred:

    • Regulatory examiner, auditor, consultant, or commercial lending officer background
    • Coding skills in SQL or data analytics experience
    • Deep experience with credit products across multiple asset classes and within large banks
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Economics

     

    Job Functions and Work Environment:
